About the Role
Wilson Contracting Services is looking for a college student interested in gaining real-
world experience in civil construction through a seasonal, full-time paid internship. This
position is designed for a student who wants to see how a construction project comes
together from the field to the office and everything in between.
You’ll spend time working alongside our field and office teams, gaining exposure to
earthwork, utilities, estimating, project management, and day-to-day construction
operations. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn how plans turn into completed
projects while building experience that will help prepare you for a career in construction.
What You’ll Do
- Spend time in the field learning how civil construction projects are built.
- Work alongside superintendents, foremen, and field crews to understand daily construction operations.
- Assist with measuring quantities, tracking production, and documenting project progress.
- Learn how to read civil plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Gain exposure to estimating, takeoffs, and the bidding process.
- Assist with project documentation, RFIs, change orders, and other project management tasks.
- Learn how equipment, materials, manpower, and schedules are coordinated on a construction project.
- Work with office staff on administrative and project-related tasks as needed.
- Gain exposure to multiple aspects of the business and learn how the field and office work together.
What We’re Looking For
- Current college student pursuing Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in pursuing a career in civil construction.
- Willingness to learn and work both in the field and in an office environment.
- Dependable, organized, and willing to take initiative.
- Comfortable working with technology and learning new software.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions.
- Ability to work outdoors and around active construction sites.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
