About the Role
Wilson Contracting Services is looking for a college student interested in gaining real-
world experience in civil construction while continuing their education. This part-time,
paid internship is designed to work around your school schedule, with a weekly
schedule created to fit your classes and availability.
You’ll have the opportunity to spend time in both the field and office, gaining exposure to
the full civil construction process. From learning how crews build projects in the field to
seeing how estimates, schedules, costs, and project documentation are managed in the
office, you’ll get a well-rounded look at what it takes to run a civil construction project.
What You’ll Do
- Spend time in the field learning how civil construction projects are built.
- Work alongside superintendents, foremen, and field crews to understand daily operations.
- Assist with measuring quantities, tracking production, and documenting project progress.
- Learn to read civil plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Gain exposure to estimating, takeoffs, and the bidding process.
- Assist with project documentation, RFIs, change orders, and other project management tasks.
- Learn how equipment, materials, manpower, and schedules are coordinated.
- Assist the office team with project-related and administrative tasks.
- Work with different members of the company to understand how the field and office work together.
- Build practical construction experience while working around your school schedule.
What We’re Looking For
- Current college student pursuing Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in pursuing a career in civil construction.
- Able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule around your class schedule.
- Willingness to learn and work both in the field and in an office environment.
- Dependable, organized, and willing to take initiative.
- Comfortable with technology and learning new software.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions.
- Ability to work outdoors and around active construction sites.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
